Why You're Screwing Yourself by Ignoring Ads (And How to Fix It Without Going Bro-Mode)

Why You're Screwing Yourself by Ignoring Ads (And How to Fix It Without Going Bro-Mode)

What's up, everyone? If you're like most of the clients I work with at CMH, you've got zero appetite for running ads right now. And honestly? That's a massive missed opportunity.

Every business needs some form of paid advertising to scale—full stop. But on the flip side, I've got these "bro" types who live and die by ads... and nothing else.

No content, no nurturing, just straight-up spend-fests that fizzle out. That's why our Content to Customers Method is a game-changer. If you're not familiar, let me break it down quick: it's about blending organic content and ads, backed by simple sales systems that actually convert.

You don't need a fancy setup here. We're talking bare minimum: one email automation, one solid landing page, one killer sales page, and maybe a VSL (video sales letter). Boom—four assets.

Send your content traffic there, and watch it work. We treat organic content like R&D gold. It's not just about visibility for new eyeballs; it's nurturing your existing audience too. (Pro tip: Social media's organic reach is in the toilet these days, so nurturing is where it shines.)

But if you're only posting to nurture and not expanding? You're leaving money on the table. And that's where ads come in—I'll make the case in a sec.

The Trust Killer: Why "Bro Ads" Without Content = Instant Credibility Wipeout

Picture this: You get a random DM hawking some course on growing your audience. You check their profile—28 followers, last post from 2022. Delete. That's the vibe with a lot of ad-only bros.

They're obsessing over "magic words" in copy, tweaking creatives like mad scientists, A/B testing every pixel. But here's the truth bomb: It all boils down to a qualified offer.

Nail who your person is and what they crave? Your ads will crush it. No guesswork, no "pin the tail on the donkey" vibes.

I've heard the horror stories—folks dropping $20K–$30K with zero ROI. Scary? Yeah. But if you're hustling hard on content and hitting diminishing returns, ads aren't the enemy; they're your breakout tool.

Platforms are straight-up pushing ads now because algorithms are a zoo. Break through the noise, or get buried.

Organic as Your Ad Lab: Test, Win, Scale

The beauty of our method? Organic content doubles as your testing ground. Does that hook land? Are ideal people DMing "more info" on your stories?

Crushing polls and hearts from your dream clients? Hell yes—double down. Keep it organic for nurture and visibility, then flip the winners into ads.

Start tiny: $10–20/day. Run that exact "DM me for details" post as paid. Technical setup got you sweating? YouTube's got free step-by-steps dropping weekly. No excuses.

Build long-form first (blog, YouTube), chop into micro-content. If it pops views and engagement?

You've qualified it. Maybe even snagged sales or DM convos closing $500+ coaching spots. I've got a mastermind buddy who started ads in March—brand new to the game—and he's pulling 6x ROAS. $100 in, $600 sale from a webinar.

No content needed (lucky timing), but imagine layering that on years of your sweat equity.

Repetition Isn't Redundant—It's Your Superpower

Next level: Iterate like a boss. Winners get repurposed, reposted, reused. Feels repetitive? Good. Nike doesn't quit "Just Do It." Chick-fil-A's still on "Eat Mor Chikin'."

Only 3–4% of your audience sees any post—reframe that scarcity mindset. People need to hear your soundbites multiple times. First round? They skim. Second? It clicks. Third? They buy.

Own your thing. Russell Brunson? Secrets and funnel hacking. Dave Asprey? Biohacker king.

For us, it's profitability over popularity. Clients join our programs quoting it: "I tried the big gurus, but it's time to make bank—time for you and Kim." We hammer that positioning ad nauseam. It works.

Nail Your Differentiation: Don't Swim in the Red Ocean

Differentiation isn't guesswork—lean into your unique edge. Newbie? R&D the market, spot gaps. Solution-aware twist: Everyone knows what you sell, but how do you stand out?

I just grabbed a senior dog supplement screaming "More play. More energy. More time." Hits the heart—pets are family. At 14.5 years old, our pup's on borrowed time. Their formula proves it, so price? Whatever. I'm buying life.

We sell deeper too: Multiply your gifts, obey your calling, build a legacy for your kids. (Bros might chase Lambos and Tate vibes—cool, but not our lane.)

You can't be all things to all people. Target underserved psychographics. Thirties crowd with bills, skills, and faith fire? That's us. Moms fueling family dreams? Same. Watch competitors, find the white space.

Ads Aren't the Test—They're the Megaphone You Need Now

Content without ads? It's like acing homework but skipping the exam. You're prepped, but stuck in grade school. Pros qualify offers/messaging, then run.

Burnout's real in this social recession—organic's crowded party where your voice drowns. Remember quiet rooms with five friends? Now it's blasting music, 500 shouts. Grab the mic (ads) or stay whispering.

Market cycles, baby. 2017–2019? All Facebook ads talk. We bailed to Instagram's chill vibe—massive organic wins. Then crowds hit, ads got pricey.

Cycle spins back: Party's packed again. Be early with the megaphone. Client joined April (total newbie): $600 per $100 spend. Another? 7K TikTok Shop t-shirt orders from a 326-follower account. $20 shirts, $3–5 ad cost, $5–6 COGS. Net $9–12 profit/unit at 60–80/day? Scale city.

Level Up: Acquire Buyers, Not Scrollers

Ads aren't about instant profit—they're buyer magnets. Ditch freebie-chaser lists; chase transactions. Entertainers build crowds—I swoop in with ads targeting their audience for the sale.

Once you're selling, enhance: Bundles (shirt + stickers + tumbler for $35). Repeat buyer emails ("20% off next shop haul").

CPAs climb with scale? Cool—launch splinter offers at $3–5 acquisition. Don't red-ocean your own niche.

High-ticket game? Break even to snag a buyer, then ascend. Recent pod listener? $9K spend in 45 days. Our superfans? $100K+ LTV. I'll drop $2K acquiring if they VIP-day, event-stack, and stick for life. Game-changer.

Ditch the Cycle: Iterate or Get Left

Wake up, post inconsistently, ghost for months, pray for sales? Rinse, repeat burnout. Everything's marketing or innovation (shoutout Drucker).

Learn basics—or stay stuck while competitors ad-poach your audience. Our Content to Customers Method fast-tracks it: Test organic, megaphone winners, build buyers.

Ready to graduate? We're launching the Content to Customers Workshop this week—evergreen, so grab it anytime. Head to contenttocustomers.co.
