Getting Top Talent For Your Business

Getting TOP Talent FOR YOUR BUSINESS WITH David Lee Jensen
Entrepreneurs usually have these questions: When exactly do you hire? What revenues should you be at what stage of the game?
If you hired somebody who doesn't help your business, then let them go. Hire slow, fire fast. You know that's always a constant debate.

It's more about your strengths, your weaknesses, and your game plan to make it to the next level. And a lot of especially small business entrepreneurs, especially online entrepreneurs, tend to hire people who duplicate them. So, if it's somebody who's doing websites, they hire a web designer to double their production.
The problem is that the things that are not allowing their business to scale are maybe the finances or promotion and marketing. So, hire towards your weakness so that you become an even stronger body as a whole.
An organization will follow the intention, the drive, and the personality of its leader. And that's what you'll see in every corporation out there. Whoever the leader is driving, whether it's a down and grind business or a greedy business or whether it's a caring business or a team mentality business.
Get to know your employees and get to know the executives in a frame of mind—let's not tell you what to do, let's see how we can do something together. And that culture is always developed by the leader. So in the hiring process, it's a matter of finding the different areas and bringing people in who will help that weakness.
When you get into a little bit bigger organization, like-minded people hire like-minded people. If you're going to hire a bookkeeper inside the company, you won't use your top sales guy to interview that bookkeeper because he's going to overwhelm him. He's going to create a standard that is just totally different in personality. In contrast, you wouldn't use your bookkeeper to bring on your top sales.
Have the top salesmen recruit your next salesman so that they are creating a competitive nature between the two of them, and they're creating camaraderie, and they're playing a game together. And that's where you're going to start building divisions within the team-oriented and robust organization. They will push forward your purpose, which you, as a business owner, should constantly be pushing down the line that this is how you have a purpose to help create millions of entrepreneurs because you want to increase the production and the prosperity of the world.
Every person from web designers to social media content to people who book David's podcast all know his purpose, and that's what he's driving for. And if they do not align with that, they just fall away.
If you're building the bulls, you've got to know that it doesn't matter how crazy Rodman is off the court, on the court, he's going to bring you hardcore rebounding, no ego as far as sharing the ball and he's going to also step in front of a punch for you every day. So that's a great employee.
You've got to give somebody a game. You're going to give somebody a purpose. You've got to make it worth their while to pass up more money because there's more opportunity for making friends. For caring about what you're doing, for having a possible career, and not just being a number.
And it's really important to know, and this general as an entrepreneur, before David had any success, he had failures. And then guess what after he had success and more failures.
Any business owner needs to know whether it's in the hiring process or in the delivery process or whatever area of the company it is, it's okay to make mistakes, and that's okay. Get back up and keep fighting like in boxing, they have a ten count for a reason. It does matter if you got hit hard in your dazed and confused for nine seconds. Did you lose it nine seconds? No. So you got a chance to get back up and fight again. You still have an opportunity to win that fight. You don't lose the fight just because you fell on your back for nine seconds, that's also in the hiring process.
When speaking to business owners about what hiring failures they've made, and from those mistakes, they learn along the way the same as you do.
And if you hired somebody who doesn't help your business, let them go, hire slow, fire fast.
