The Ultimate Guide to Get Your First Client

Chris Michael Harris, Entrepreneur
We are wrapping up this series, and as you can recall, we started with the 5 Keys To Find Best Business Ideas for 2021, and if you haven't watched it yet, I suggest you check that episode because that's very important; these were all done in order by design. One of the most important messages that I teach to my clients and my students is you can do the steps faster, but you cannot skip the steps.
In the first few episodes, we have built the foundation that we need to get our first client, from validating your offer to analyzing your market, and with the help of these tips, there's no way you can't sell your product to your first customer, let's dive in:
1. Understand what people are looking for
One of the reasons I had you early on in this series is to interview at least ten potential customers for your particular product or service. I wanted you to understand what people are looking for is the viable market test your assumptions of that nature.
So if you have those people out there that are ideal customer avatars that you already built a relationship with, go back to those people, have conversations with them, and tell them where you're at in the process. If they indicate that they're interested, great, now you've got a potential customer.
2. Analyze your competition
I typically look at the competition in the sense of how we can do something a little bit different than what they're doing. I think we have a little bit of a scarcity mindset around competition. So I try to find where's my area of opportunity is. Another thing is collaboration. I highly recommend taking advantage of people who already have an audience that already has traffic that has already done the work.
3. Check online networking
I want you to find a bunch of groups, Facebook groups, and whatever social media platform you prefer, find groups relevant to that specific space. And the reason being is that the best thing you could do is start engaging and having conversations with people in there, get involved, interact with people, answer questions, and show off your expertise show. So it's an excellent opportunity for you to start expanding, and if, at the very least, you will begin following you online.
4. Personal Networking
One of my favorites is BNI (Business Network International), Ivan Meisner is the founder. He's a friend who's been on my podcast. The great thing about BNI is it's a global network. They only allow every chapter only allows one person per industry in one of their chapters, meaning if you come in and you have a salon, you're opening a salon, and they have an opening for a salon, guess what, you're the only slot in there. I have used it with my company before, and the result is amazing. It's worth the time, money, and effort.
